Armistice Day Procession

Armistice Day Parade, Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street, NYC 1918

Grace Ravlin set out to become a landscape painter and made many open-air pictures in Europe, North Africa and North America.  But she was in love with cities.

When she was in a city, the motion in crowds could lodge in her memory for years until circumstances helped to arrange one more painting trip to the scene of an indelible event. Important buildings of the community, figure in many Ravlin works and she was always expert at finding an intimate view at every-year festival-occasions.
